About the role

Provide quality pharmaceutical services by dispensing medicines, counselling patients on proper medicine use, managing pharmacy stock, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring safe handling and storage of medicines in line with Ministry of Health and Pharmacy and Poisons Board guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medicines accurately and safely according to prescriptions and treatment guidelines.
  • Explain to patients how to take their medicines, including dosage, timing, and possible side effects.
  • Maintain accurate records of medicines dispensed and other required pharmacy records.
  • Monitor medicine stock levels and ensure medicines are properly stored and handled.
  • Receive, check, and arrange medicines and other pharmacy supplies appropriately.
  • Monitor expiry dates and ensure expired or damaged medicines are removed and handled properly.
  • Assist with ordering and procurement of medicines and pharmacy supplies when required.
  • Maintain proper cleanliness, hygiene, and safety within the pharmacy.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and proper handling of patient and prescription information.
  • Work closely with clinical officers, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
  • Provide basic health and medicine-related information and promote proper use of medicines.
  • Participate in stock taking, quality improvement activities, and continuous professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health policies, Pharmacy and Poisons Board requirements, and the facility's standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
  • Registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) with a valid practicing license.
  • Good pharmaceutical, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Previous experience in a busy outpatient pharmacy is an added advantage.
